This afternoon I spoke with Mayor Bob Kiss about the transition to a new mayor, among many other things.
A delay in the process is might prolong the process, he said.
Mayor Bob Kiss: I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we didn’t have a runoff – so it might not be as early in March as you might think. The winner has to get 40 percent, plus one. I would say that the slate of candidates for this race isn’t done yet.”

Joel Banner Baird: You mean there might be more?
MBK: Oh, certainly.
(pause)
JBB: No way.
MBK: I think so.
JBB: So…do you have any inside information?
MBK: (laughing) Oh, no, I don’t. But remember: the first time I ran for mayor I really didn’t enter the race until Janurary. Those same opportunities exist today for other people.
(pause)
JBB: So you really think there might be some more candidates?
MBK: Absolutely, depending on who comes out of the Democratic caucus. Absolutely.
